Talent is Overrated

I just finished reading this book, in hopes to find "What really separates World-Class Performers from Everybody Else." The authors make the point, that talent is not a "gift." Being talented does not mean that we were born with some inherent ability or skill, but it is something that we can achieve. Through practice? Not quite. The authors suggest the idea of "deliberate practice." Focus on the skills necessary to make you better. If being fast will help you in your game, but isn't necessary, don't focus on speed. Work on strength. Improve what is required for you to be better.  Understand that it will be hard, and practice may never be fun. But if you really want something,  you have to be willing to work for it. And if you aren't? Then there lies what separates world class athletes from everybody else.
